Woman Killed, Man Seriously Injured In Great River Crash

One person was killed and another seriously injured in an overnight crash on Long Island.

It happened around 12:50 a.m. Friday, April 21 in the hamlet of Great River.

A 1998 Jeep was traveling southbound on Great River Road, approximately 100 feet south of Montauk Highway, when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole, ejecting both occupants, Suffolk County Police said.

The passenger in the Jeep, NeriBeth Medina-Mas, age 25, of Brentwood, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. 

The driver of the Jeep, a 37-year-old Bay Shore man, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he is in critical but stable condition.
